Hospitalization and Financial Disclosures
Justice Clarence Thomas has been hospitalized due to an infection, according to the Supreme Court. The 73-year-old judge has been admitted to Sibley Memorial Hospital.
Thomas has also recently disclosed two trips he took with conservative activist Ginni Thomas in July 2019. The trips were to Bali, Indonesia, and a private club in Monte Rio, California.
Criticism and Defiance
Justice Thomas has faced criticism in recent years, particularly over his wife's involvement in efforts to overturn the 2020 election. In a speech on Friday, Thomas denounced the "nastiness and lies" that have surrounded him.
Thomas also reiterated his opposition to a landmark First Amendment decision, Brandenburg v. Ohio. The decision protects speech that incites violence unless it is likely to cause imminent harm.
