The critically acclaimed and Oscar-winning biographical drama "The King's Speech" (2010) tells the story of King George VI (Colin Firth) and his struggle with a debilitating stammer. With the help of his speech therapist, Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush), George VI was able to overcome his speech impediment and deliver a rousing speech at the start of World War II.
The film's cast also includes Helena Bonham Carter as Queen Elizabeth, Michael Gambon as King George V, Derek Jacobi as Archbishop Cosmo Gordon Lang, and Guy Pearce as Edward VIII. The film was directed by Tom Hooper and written by David Seidler.
The King's Speech won four Oscars at the 83rd Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actor for Firth, Best Director for Hooper, and Best Original Screenplay for Seidler. It also won seven BAFTAs, including Best Film, Best Actor for Firth, and Best Supporting Actor for Rush.
